💚 On April 14, we were delighted to host the closing ceremony of the “Empowering Green Warriors” project. The event welcomed representatives from NPAP (National Plastic Action Partnership), members of the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) working group, and over 100 informal waste collectors – the Green Warriors of the XanhNét Circular Ecosystem.
The main activities of the Project include:
🌿 Two in-depth training sessions: Session 1 (Hanoi): Raising awareness of Occupational Safety, Fire Prevention & Fighting, and Gender Equality. Session 2 (Ho Chi Minh City): Providing Financial and Technical skills in plastic recycling.
🌿 Creative Competition & Exhibition “Waste Collectors and the Future of Plastic Waste” (Hanoi Architectural University): Spreading the value of Green Warriors to young people.
📍 One of the most meaningful moments was hearing the heartfelt stories shared by the Green Warriors. Now more than ever, they are ready to raise their voices.
Ms. Nga shared, “In the past, when people asked what I did, I would just say I did odd jobs. But now, I confidently say I work as a waste collector. I feel proud, no longer ashamed.”
📍 Ms. Nguyễn Thị Nhật Hoài, Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist at NPAP Vietnam, expressed her joy:
“We can be proud of fulfilling our commitments. The project’s success would not have been possible without the active, persistent participation of the Green Warriors. On behalf of GPAP and NPAP, we congratulate VietCycle on a truly successful project. We also reaffirm our commitment to continue supporting VietCycle and NPAP’s GESI members in future initiatives aimed at the informal sector.”
📍 As a note of deep gratitude, Mr. Hoàng Đức Vượng shared:
“We sincerely thank GPAP and NPAP for accompanying us in this project. It’s thanks to learning from international organizations that we found direction and achieved this success.”
🌍🌱 Mr. Vượng also shared encouraging updates about upcoming policies to support the informal sector and expressed hope that the Green Warriors will soon receive the recognition and benefits they deserve – for civilized Vietnam with waste!
