During the visit to Vietnam lasting from August 21, 2023 to August 23, 2023, representatives of VietCycle Corporation had the honor to welcome Chairman of Wongpanit International Co., Ltd., Dr. Somthai Wongcharoen and his colleagues to visit the office and recycling factories at the invitation of Mr. Hoang Duc Vuong, Chairman of VietCyle Corporation.

Since officially coming into operation in 1974, Wongpanit has now become one of the most comprehensive waste management and treatment facilities in the ASEAN region with more than 2,000 franchise branches located in Thailand, 9 branches in Laos, 2 branches in Malaysia, Japan, Cambodia and the United States. The company specializes in processing waste materials such as plastic, paper, metal, glass bottles and many other types of waste from apartments, shopping malls, government agencies and municipalities.
Wongpanit Chairman, Dr. Somthai Wongcharoen’s vision for a circular economy is to become a leader in collecting scattered natural resources in Thailand and the region to transform into raw materials for domestic and international manufacturers to enable a sustainable circular economy for society. VietCycle sees the similarities and hopes to learn and cooperate with Wongpanit in future projects, especially in the field of waste treatment for a circular social economy.

At VietCycle’s recycling facilities, Dr. Somthai Wongcharoen and his colleagues observed and appreciated the process of sorting, cleaning and recycling from collected plastic waste to high quality recycled plastic pieces ready to be exported to the market.

In addition to researching the quality of output products, machinery technology at recycling factories, plastic waste collection facilities and VietCycle’s recycling process, Dr. Somthai Wongcharoen and his colleagues have also paid great attention to the potential for cooperation with VietCycle in the same South East Asia area with the hope of reaching out to the world together to bring sustainable value to the circular economy, for a world without plastic waste.
